From my first session with Jake I was impressed by his intelligence, kindness and compassion. Jake’s own experience overcoming fatigue both relaxed me and filled me with confidence. That confidence was in short supply for me as I entered my fourth year of living with ME/CFS.
Not only had Jake fully recovered himself – but his psychological expertise, understanding of the latest research into neuroplastic symptoms and training in IFS-informed EMDR therapy meant that he had many tools and strategies we could use together to help me recover.
I know that life will continue to throw new challenges at me, but I am now confident that I have developed the skills and tools to handle whatever difficulties may arise.
When I started working with Jake, I was hopeful that he could help me to get back to my life before I became sick with ME/CFS. Instead, Jake helped me to be in a position that is so much better than life before ME/CFS!
Not only have my physical and cognitive capabilities returned, but my emotional resilience has improved exponentially. I have such a better understanding of myself now and many strategies I can use to identify unhelpful patterns in my behaviours/relationships and change them. With Jake I have developed much more self-compassion. We did the hard work of addressing old emotional wounds and I am now much better at really experiencing my feelings in the moment.
I want to take the opportunity to send you a big thanks! I ran 21k yesterday and it was a big and symbolic day for me. It was a big step. I am much better at the moment. I still have slight symptoms every day. But most of the days I just can breathe through them and they nearly don’t bother me at all.
It is getting better every week with setbacks from time to time. They always occur due to some emotional stuff. Since I know this now and I have my “Selbstwirksamkeit” [self-efficacy], I can handle them and feel how they even serve me in growing my capacity. The few sessions we had were a huge part of my recovery and I want to thank you for that! The world needs more people like you, who turn their own suffering into good energy for others.
Working with Jake was a real pleasure and undoubtedly helped accelerate some significant improvements in my health on the path towards recovery. His kindness and obvious compassion for people dealing with ME/CFS and other chronic conditions helped put me at ease from our first session.
I liked the combination of approaches he offered - combining deeper work through techniques like EMDR alongside practical advice which it was easy to begin applying immediately. Not to mention loads of great book recommendations along the way. I really encourage you to reach out if you're looking for support on your journey to better health.
I really can’t thank you enough for all the help you gave me last year. It was by far the most helpful therapy I have had, and I finally feel like I have managed to extract myself from some of the constraints I’ve been living with for a long time. Please know that you and your skills are very special. I feel incredibly grateful to have stumbled across you and your therapy.
My sessions with Jake were such a huge turning point in my journey and I feel so grateful to have found him. Jake was always so gentle and compassionate that I felt safe, listened to and understood. He helped me stay hopeful when times were hard. When we started meeting, I could barely manage a 30-minute call once a week and wasn't leaving the house. I am now able to see friends and family several times a week, go out for walks, and am consistently taking steps towards reclaiming my life.
Like many others with fatigue, I also have a history of trauma and my PTSD symptoms reduced massively from my work with Jake. I am so grateful to him for all of his support and would recommend him wholeheartedly to anyone looking for some guidance through this journey.
I am very grateful for Jake’s support during an extremely difficult and confusing period of my life. Having functioned as a senior leader in the public sector for many years, I had become completely incapacitated with inexplicable symptoms. With gentle curiosity and compassion, Jake helped me make sense of what I was experiencing and navigate a journey back to myself. I’d recommend Jake to anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances.
